Staff Accountant (Contract)

Location-San Mateo, CA Hybrid
Compensation-$70,000-$115,000 USD

MAKE AN IMPACT

• Manage accounts payable and expense reimbursement functions, including vendor record management, invoice coding, support and approval gathering, and purchase request processing 
• Serve as contact for vendor and employee expense inquiries 
• Review company issued credit card expense reports    
• Performing semi-monthly payment runs (ACH/checks/wires) 
• Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations involving AP, Payroll, and Cash 
• Perform month-end bank account reconciliations and assist with month-end close 
• Provide support on special projects and ad hoc analysis   
• Adhere to accounts payable and payroll policies  
• Assist with year-end close, annual financial audits, and preparation of annual filings for Form 1099 (as applicable, during the 3-month period or in the event of conversion to full-time employment) 

SHOW US YOUR SKILLS

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent years of experience and certifications 
• Experience in accounts payable, general ledger, and month-end close 
• Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) 
• Prior experience in payroll processing for mid-size companies (250+ employees), including non-exempt and multi-state experience 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP and Pivot tables, with proven ability to effectively use these tools for accounting and financial analysis 
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously, effectively managing their time and priorities to consistently meet or exceed performance expectations 
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate clearly to achieve cross-functional success 
• The ability to work onsite in San Mateo, as needed
